Brows frame your whole face, and the right treatment can transform them. The two I'm asked about most in my Midtown Miami studio are brow lamination and henna brows. They're often confused, but they do completely different things — and many clients love them together.
I tailor brow work to your hair growth, face shape, and how bold you want to go — and I'll always tell you honestly when one treatment will serve you better than the other.
Brow lamination relaxes and re-sets your brow hairs upward for a fuller, fluffier, brushed-up shape that lasts 4–6 weeks — it changes the shape and texture. Henna brows stain the hairs and skin to add color, definition, and the look of density for up to 2 weeks on skin and 4–6 on hair — it changes the color. Lamination = shape; henna = tint. Many clients do both.
Brow lamination: fuller, fluffier shape
Lamination uses a gentle solution to soften and re-direct your brow hairs, then sets them in a uniform, brushed-up position. It's ideal for sparse, unruly, or downward-growing brows — it makes thin brows look fuller and tames thick ones into a clean shape. Results last about 4 to 6 weeks. It does not add color.
Henna brows: definition & tint
Henna is a semi-permanent dye that stains both the brow hairs and the skin underneath, creating depth, definition, and the appearance of fuller brows — especially helpful for filling gaps. The skin stain lasts up to about 2 weeks and the color on the hairs around 4 to 6 weeks. It shapes color, not texture.
Which should you choose?
- Want fluffier, more set brows? Lamination.
- Want richer color and filled-in gaps? Henna.
- Want the full transformation? Both — lamination to set the shape, henna to add color. This combo is a client favorite.
At your brow appointment I'll assess your natural brows and recommend the approach that flatters your face and fits your maintenance preferences.
Caring for your brows
For both treatments, keep brows dry for 24 hours, avoid oil-based products and exfoliants on the area, and brush laminated brows into place daily. Gentle care keeps the results crisp for as long as possible.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get brow lamination and henna at the same time?
Yes, and it's a popular combination. Lamination sets the shape and henna adds color and definition — together they give the fullest, most polished result.
How long do henna brows last?
The skin stain typically lasts up to about 2 weeks and the color on the brow hairs around 4 to 6 weeks, depending on your skin type and aftercare.
Is brow lamination damaging?
When performed by a licensed professional with proper timing and aftercare, lamination is safe. Over-processing or doing it too frequently can dry the hairs, which is why technique and spacing treatments matter.
How often can I get brow lamination?
Generally every 4 to 6 weeks. I'll advise on timing based on your brow hair's condition to keep them healthy.
